H2S Alive (Energy Safety Canada)

Training Overview

This course is designed to provide Petroleum Industry workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) emergencies. This course was developed and is administered in accordance with guidelines established and maintained by Energy Safety Canada. The instructors are certified according to ESC requirements. Areas of study will include: H₂S properties; initial response strategy; respiratory protective equipment; detection of H₂S; rescue techniques; and rescue breathing. Practical training will be conducted in the following subject areas: Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); Supplied Air Breathing Apparatus (on request); Gas Detection; Rescue Techniques; and Rescue Breathing.

Training Duration and Timings

Approximately 8 hours of training completed over 1 day.

Classes run from 0800 to 1700 (time can be altered if necessary). Trainees absent from any component of the program will not be issued a certification until they have completed all requirements.
