Aircraft Survival Training (AST)

Training Overview

The AST course is designed to provide emergency response training specific for helicopter aircrews transporting workers to offshore vessels and platforms.

This course will provide realistic helicopter ditching scenarios that will include both upright surface abandonments and inverted Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) with and without a compressed air Emergency Breathing System (EBS).

 

The course will also provide training specific to offshore emergency response procedures and equipment. This includes: offshore hazards intro; offshore platform abandonment /survival equipment; basic fire extinguisher training with SCBA review; and simulated practical sea survival exercises.

 

Training Duration and Timings

Approximately 16 hours of training completed over 2 days.

Classes run from 0800 to 1630 (time can be altered if necessary). Trainees absent from any component of the program will not be issued a certification until they have completed all requirements. 



Trainees are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of fully taking part in all practical exercises.
