Training Overview

This training program reviews core skills previously learned in the OSCC course, ensuring that personnel have the knowledge and skills required to take command of survival craft during an offshore emergency abandonment. It covers both TEMPSC (Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft), davit launch life rafts and skyscape. Included in the two day program are classroom sessions reviewing pre-launch checks, mustering and crowd control, abandonment protocols, actions after abandonment, and signaling/rescue communications. Practical exercises include survival craft loading, launching and release mechanisms, basic boat handling, compass work, “heaving to” and sea anchors, search patterns, “person in water” recovery, pacing and passenger transfer to FRC.

Training Duration & Timings

Approximately 16 hours of training completed over 2 days. Classes run from 0800 to 1600 (time can be altered if necessary). Trainees absent from any component of the program will not be issued a certification until they have completed all requirements.
